Thank You for Visiting 05/09/2012
Thanks to Pat, Peg and all for visiting and leaving a comment. Please check out the Book Review page for my review of Donna Clark Goodrich's newest book, just out the first of this month, called The Freedom of Letting Go. If you go to the chapters on doubt and fear, you will find a small contribution from myself. Thank you ahead of time for reading this book of Donna's. I believe it will be a huge help to anyone having trouble with "Letting Go." Now where did I misplace that round tuit. I really must be more conscientious about blogging here. Thanks for visiting and God bless your day. Cass 2 Comments The Winter That Wasn't 04/13/2012
First let me welcome you back to The Word Heart Written. Once again time has flown busily by me. Between family get togethers, preaching two services and writing to meet contest deadlines, Easter came and went with a flurry of activity. The week following Easter saw flurries of the white type. Imagine that! After summertime temps, not yet two weeks ago, snow fell on two successive days. We've seen a paucity of the fluffy stuff this winter leading pundits to say we've had a 'winterless winter'. Go figure. Since I am told writers need to be visible in the social media to promote their works, Words About the Word, my website, and The Word Heart Written, my blog, became my first steps in that direction. Now, I've joined LinkedIn. Next on that agenda is likely to be Twitter, and then Facebook. So please forgive me ahead of time if you get plagued by those all pervasive applications with invitations to "join", "friend", or other wise acknowledge you know me. As for current and future works, a new Anthology is due out this year dealing with mother's and grandmother's recipes, poetry and stories. One of my own stories and a 'Jackson Family' recipe will be included -- and yes, I am a Jackson by birth. Can't wait until the Mother's and Grandmother's Anthology comes out. As soon as I get a title and cover page shot, I will post it here. Until then, check back often to see when it will be available. Have a good rest of this day, a good rest tonight, and an even better tomorrow. Remember, God loves you and showed it by dying for your failings through Jesus Christ. There is always forgiveness and restoration in His name. Blessings, Cass Post Title. 03/24/2012

Check back for author interviews, or mosey on over to the Book Review page to find another interesting read, then sashay on over to the poetry page for a bit of lighthearted or else not so lighthearted reading. At the Check These Out page, you will find the links to other author's websites and blogs. Enjoy the browsing.... Until later, God bless you really abundantly. Blessings, Cass Wessel March 24, 2012 My oh my, has this month ever flown by as fast as the birds flit from ground to tree top. Since you are reading this, it means you are visiting again. Welcome back. Over on the Book Review page, you will find a new review posted for a 2009 book. I heartily recommend you stop by and then grab your very own free copy of "A Very Special Delivery" by Linda Goodnight over at Harlequin.com. The e-book is free in both Adobe .pdf format and e-book format. The above delectable morsel of fiction is not to be confused with Kathi Macias' most recent release, "Special Delivery" which deals with human trafficking -- a subject which is anything but delectable. In point of fact, it's horrific. The second book review over on the Review Page, "No Longer A Slumdog" by K.P. Yohannan, is about a similar issue, but unlike Kathi's book, it is not fiction and it is free from Gospel for Asia at gfa.org. Kathi's book is fact based fiction and can be obtained from herself (her website link is on the Check These Out page) and at Amazon.com or other book sellers. The second in this latest series, it continues to plumb the depths of human degradation, but shines the light of Christ's Gospel into it! If I know her writing, you will find it a captivating read. Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to leave a comment below. It will be posted after it is reviewed. Blessings, Cass Wessel The Word Heart Written --Blog 12/02/2011
Welcome to The Word Heart Written Blog... I am excited to report that I have only one more copy of "Celebrating Christmas with… Memories, Poetry, and Good Food" available. Click on the Celebrate Books link. There you will find a description and order information. Another anthology will be released sometime in this Summer in which a short memoir of mine will be published. Watch my website and blog for updates and order information! Also, check out the PCC Daily Devotions page where I my spiritual musings appear nestled in the archives, but sometimes on the current devotional page. Another website to check out is the Renewal Fellowship of the PCC and their eChannels magazine. You may find something of interest there. A poem and article of mine were published in the latest issue, November, 2011. March 7, 2012 Well they always say, better late than never. The last couple of weeks were pretty much of a waste as far as writing was concerned, but I did get a good book read during that time and the review posted today. I suggest you head on over to the Book Review page to read about a cause which is near and dear to my heart. Then if you too are impacted by such things, check out Kathi Macias' website at www.kathimacias.com for information on her books which deal with similar subjects. You will not be disappointed by her books. Until later, God bless you and thanks for stopping by. February 10, 2012 What's with this modern addiction to adrenaline? Seems every writing book, every critique, and every writer's website, except GreatLakesRomances.com and Donna Winter's, are touting the virtues of bold, aggressive and violent writing as being absolutely essential to keeping the attention of the modern American reader, even the Christian ones. What's up with that? I know I get suckered in to a fast paced book as easily as the next person, but that doesn't mean I enjoyed the read! I may give those books a thumbs up on my review page simply because they are well written, and I want to help my fellow writer's hawk their books, but, and this is a big BUT, I am sick to death of mayhem, murder and threatened lives in Christian literature. If I want more of that, all I need to do is watch the evening news! Don't even need to go to another country to experience that stuff first hand. Just hop in your car and drive to the nearest city slum district, or maybe not even a slum district. Just be in the wrong place at the wrong time and... well, you get the point. Give me gentle. Give me sweet. Give me the love of Christ exemplified in our words. Give me "turn the other cheek" and "do unto others as you would have others do unto you," and yes, those snippets of Scripture are from memory and likely KJV because that's the version in used as a kid. Now the ONE exception to this literary preference of mine is Kathi Macias' writing. Reason? She is dealing with hard topics such as the persecution of Christians, human trafficking, and other forms of human degradation. By throwing the spotlight of Christ into the valley of the shadow of eternal death, she splashes His rescuing love into those hard to reach places. I suggest you buy her books if you want a fast paced socially conscious read. But if what you want is nostalgia for a gentler time, then watch for the books I intend to write. That doesn't mean there will be none of the nasty stuff, but it will not predominate, I promise. Only such sorrow as is common to humanity will pepper the pages of the "Our Dwelling Place" series. One of these days, I will be announcing its debut, but until then, watch for devotionals, articles and submissions to upcoming anthologies. Blessings and have a great next couple of weeks. Cass Wessel February 5, 2012 Where did the time go? It seems just yesterday we celebrated the prognosticating groundhog, Puxatawney Phil, who saw his shadow and forecast six more weeks of winter. Finally, the weather has decided to follow his forecast. Evidently, the solar flares which did their best to unseasonably warm the earth here in NW Pennsylvania, have subsided and with them so have the northern lights -- which I never did get to see this far south due to cloud cover. But NOAH's assurance that winter weather would soon blow in upon us proved right. Brr... baby it's cold outside, but not nearly as cold as my time spent in Northern Ontario. (You will find it if you look in an atlas or turn over your road map of Southern Ontario.) Blessings, Cass December 2, 2011 In these winter days after Christmas, I pause, pray and ask God for direction. What would He have me write in 2012? The first thing staring me in my face are edits needing to be done on my recently critiqued WIP's first chapter. More research needs to be done. I read, take notes, but get side tracked, like my pooch following rabbit trails, looking for a pertinent plat book. I find it, but also find my journal of a trip to Israel. A friend stops by, reads a bit of it and encourages me to transcribe it to CD which becomes another task for my growing 'to do list'. But one job is done. I am updating this website and blog. Enough from me for now. Blessings to all in this New Year. Cass Wessel |
